Dr. Oz Print Ads

To accompany my written copy for The Dr. Oz Show, I also developed some print ad concepts.  For these particular ads, I was asked not only to write the copy, but to concept the entire image strategy.  We were looking to create billboards, posters, and advertisements in magazines to promote the new Dr. Oz Show.  We needed to creatively present the information of when the show would be broadcasted.

As the show would contain very relevant medically-based advice, I developed the image idea of Dr. Oz “prescribing” his show to the audience.  The ads featured a prescription bottle, with the label presenting the day and time of the show.

Image Ideas for Print and Posters

*(rough visual examples are included on the following pages)

#1

Vertical Billboard in the shape of a prescription bottle.  Huge vertical billboard cut out in the shape of a prescription bottle.  Can also be posters.  The prescription label on the bottle will feature the Dr. Oz show, presented as if it were prescribed to a patient (you!).  Copy on the label can include:

(The Dr. Oz Show logo, Picture of Dr. Oz, Harpo Productions logo)

Refill:                                       WEEKNIGHTS at 4PM

Patient Name:                     YOU!

Directions:                            Take one dose, one hour a day, five days a week, as needed for good health.

Medication Name:            Health-enol and Wellness-cillin

Tagline:                                 “Medicine has never been so good!”

#2

Poster similar to billboard, except show is promoted on a prescription note.

#3

Series of Posters.  Posters feature a Doctor’s note or prescription note written by Doctor Oz, prescribing his cure or treatment for an ailment.

#4

Series of Posters.  Posters feature one very interesting health fact or health tip from Dr. Oz, accompanied by the show logo as well as his picture, plus “WEEKNIGHTS at 4PM”.  A different health tip or health fact on each poster and different posters featured.  Example copy: “Your waistline in inches should be less than half the size of your height in inches.”

#5

Logo Idea:

The Dr. Oz Show written in a box, the “R” in Dr.  plus one part of the “Z” in Oz are slightly darker to emphasize the famous RX medical prescription logo.

Random other promo concept:

There is this temporary free standing wall-type thing in front of the highland mall on Hollywood Blvd that I have seen.  As a passer-by, it is a very curious thing, and makes people wonder what it is.  This wall has holes in it, in various locations on the wall, that you can plug headphones into to listen to whatever they have playing.  Each hole has something different playing.  If you happen to carry yours, you could plug in your own personal headphone into any holes and listen.  If not, there is someone there with headphones to lend you to allow you to listen, and also to talk about what it is you are listening to; they are helping promote the product.  Maybe we could do something like that; every hole is a different recording of a health tip or interesting fact from Dr. Oz.  We could keep it simple with headphones, or if we wanted to go the extra mile, we could use stethoscope-style listeners where passers-by could use a play-stethoscope to press against a particular part of the wall to listen to, or maybe headphones designed in the shape of stethoscopes.  Inside the wall is wired for each hole to play a specific recording on loop.  This promotional concept will reach out to passers-by and tourists strolling along the way, who will become curious about what this wall is about and what this new show is about.
